Divertissements
Will de Kypia

It's much easier to ad lib a limerick
than it is to structure a sonnet.

Two Limericks

_ðŸĶĪ
There was a young man from Chicago
who knew there was much he did not know.
Though he went off to college
to acquire some knowledge
he came home still as dumb as a dodo.

🚗
There was an old lady from Fraser
who drove a bigly MAGA red Blazer.
Since she wasn't too bright

she would only turn right,
good sense and the law didn't faze her.

Two Clerihews

Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell
is a cool fighter pilot as hot as a pistol,
the ace who's always the toppest gun
even when flying an old P-51.

Thomas Cruise Mapother the Fourth
frequently finds himself way off course.
He once gave James Corden a ride on a jet
and the two have never been seen again yet.

A Slanterne

Life goes on until
………..
suddenly it doesn't.

This Poet's Apologia

Those who disdain the craft of poetry
might wonder what possible purpose people
like me could have in this prosaic world.

But I believe there is some reason a
higher power—or maybe a malevolent
sprite—has placed us poets here.

Placed us here to write bold, beautiful lines
that sound heavenly golden chords. To compose
perfect poems, masterworks past compare.

Works we'll eventually see as the dismal
failures they are, causing us to reject and
disown every pitiful poem we've written.

Then we quickly begin a new one since
we'll never stop writing until forever.

A poet's sole purpose is to persevere.
Why we must do this was perhaps written
on the wind by that malevolent sprite.
