A transporter is a teleportation apparatus that relocates any physical entity instantly.

It dematerializes the person or object to be relocated by converting it from matter into an energy pattern, and then beaming the energy pattern to its desired destination.

The transporter then rematerializes the entity in its new location by reverting         the energy pattern back into matter.

If the energy pattern gets distorted during the beaming process, a relocated entity        may be unpredictably and irreversibly altered when reconverted to matter.
